IFIC SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
   

The International Federation of Infection Control invites applications for the IFIC Scholarship Award to attend its 6th Congress of the International Federation of Infection Control in Istanbul, Turkey between 13-16 October 2005. One award will be given although smaller awards consisting of free registration, with or without accommodation, may be also awarded depending on available finances.

Deadline

Applications must be received no later than 15 th July 2005.

Amount of the Award

The award consists of:

  • Free registration to the conference
  • Up to €500 to cover travel expenses
  • €250 to cover four nights accommodation in a 3-star hotel in the vicinity of the congress venue.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be active in practice of infection control
  • Preference will be given to participant(s) living in countries with limited resources
  • Preference will also be given to delegates from members societies affiliated with IFIC
  • Participants must present a paper, either oral or poster

Application

Please submit the following:

  • A letter describing the applicant’s interests in infection control and how this Scholarship will help to promote infection control activity in his/her country. Please limit the letter to one page with one-inch margins and font size of 10-12 point.
  • The applicant’s curriculum vitae.
  • A copy of the abstract which should also be additionally submitted to the Congress Organisers at http://www.ificistanbul.org/abstract_submission.html. Applicants should indicate whether they would still be attending if sponsorship is not provided.

Selection

Applications will be reviewed by a committee established by the IFIC Board. The award will be granted using the above criteria.

The scholarship grant will be given in the form of a cash refund to the delegate during an award ceremony during the Congress. Scholarship recipients are to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.

Delegates awarded a scholarship and who need a visa to travel to Istanbul will need to provide a copy of the visa or proof of ability to travel to the congress within 3 weeks of the award, failing which the scholarship may be withdrawn.
